Ákos Horváth  
Co-founder, Managing Director

Ákos Horváth received his PhD in Software engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He is an accomplished researcher with strong background on the application of model-driven technologies for the design and optimization of complex systems with more than 40 peer-reviewed papers and several IEEE/Springer best paper awards under his belt.

Prior to IncQuery Labs, he has been involved in several European Union research projects such as SENSORIA, DIANA and CONCERTO and large-scale industrial projects with companies like Embraer and IBM. As a distinguished achievement, Ákos was part of the Progile team, a cooperation with IBM Data Storage Systems, which won the Supply Chain Technology Award at the 2012 European Supply Chain & Logistic Summit.

He has served IncQuery Labs as one of its Managing Directors since its founding and has contributed significantly to putting the company on the right track for growth. Within the company, Ákos acts as a project coordinator and responsible for boosting productivity and morale.


 

István Ráth   
Co-founder, Managing Director, Lead of Innovation 

István Ráth received both his MSc in Computer Engineering and his PhD in Software Engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. His main interest is model-driven systems development with a special focus on domain-specific languages and model transformations. Since 2006, he is a regular participant of European Union research projects such as SENSORIA, MOGENTES, SecureChange and MONDO. He co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, won multiple ACM/Springer Best Paper Awards, and he is the winner of the Pro Scientia Award of the Hungarian National Organization for Scientific Students’ Associations. In 2010, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Waterloo.

He is a long-time contributor of Eclipse open source projects, serving as the chief technological architect of the VIATRA model transformation tool and the co-lead of the EMF-IncQuery model query framework. Before co-founding IncQuery Labs, he has been actively involved in several large-scale industrial R&D projects. He is a skilled trainer and consultant in software development, model-driven development and Eclipse technologies.

Within IncQuery Labs, he serves as one of the Managing Directors in charge of innovation, responsible for leading both internal and external software R&D projects, and coordinating technology transfer from academic research to industrial practice.


 

Dániel Varró  
Co-founder, Strategist

Dániel Varró is a full professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. His main research interest is model-driven software and systems engineering. He is a co-author of more than 100 scientific papers with four Distinguished Paper Awards, and one Most Influential Paper Award. He regularly serves on the programme committee of various international conferences in the field and serves on the editorial board of the Software and Systems Modeling journal (Springer). He was a programme committee co-chair of FASE 2013, ICMT 2014 and SLE 2016 conferences. He delivered a keynote talk at the IEEE CSMR 2012 and the SOFSEM 2016 conferences and at various international workshops.

He is a co-founder of the VIATRA model transformation tool and the EMF-IncQuery model query framework. He was the site leader at his university of the SENSORIA, DIANA, SecureChange and MONDO European Projects. He is a three time recipient of the IBM Faculty Award. He was a visiting professor at McGill University and Université de Montréal in 2014, and previously, he was a visiting researcher at SRI International, University of Paderborn and TU Berlin.

Within IncQuery Labs, his primary role is strategic planning with a major involvement in business development.


 

Péter Bokor
Co-owner, Project Coordinator

Péter Bokor received his computer science PhD in 2011 from the Technische Universität Darmstadt (Technical University of Darmstadt). His research interests include model checking with a special focus on partial-order reduction and symbolic execution, automated testing, fault-tolerance, and distributed systems.

Péter spent three years (2012-2015) with BSH (former Bosch/Siemens) Home Appliances in Berlin where he contributed to setting up a new SW framework for automated HW-in-the-loop testing. In the roles of the technical project coordinator and one of the leading architects he assisted in developing an R&D prototype into a mature framework that can be applied to automated, high-quality testing of various HW/SW products.

In 2015 he has joined IncQuery Labs where his main task is guiding and supervising verification- and testing-related research and development projects.

Gábor Bergmann
Co-founder, MDE, IncQuery expert

Gábor Bergmann has a PhD in Software Engineering and an MSc in Computer Engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. During his time as a doctoral student, he has interned at Google. His main research interest is model-driven systems development with a special focus on model queries. He has participated in multiple academic research programs including EU FP7 research projects SecureChange and MONDO. He is a research fellow of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and holds lectures that cover topics including system modeling and model-driven software engineering.

He is a long-time contributor of two Eclipse open source projects: the VIATRA model transformation tool and the EMF-IncQuery model query framework. In particular, he is responsible for the incremental query evaluation engine of EMF-IncQuery.

Within IncQuery Labs, he contributes as a senior partner in cutting edge research and development projects.


 

Ábel Hegedüs
Co-owner, Software R&D Engineer, Model-driven Engineering Expert

Ábel Hegedüs has a PhD in Software Engineering and an MSc in Computer Engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He is experienced in the application of model-driven engineering in complex, reactive and event-driven applications. He is a core developer and co-lead of the EMF-IncQuery project and a regular contributor for the VIATRA project. He has participated in multiple industrial and EU FP7 research projects. He is the co-author of many conference and journal papers on back-annotation, design space exploration and traceability. He also won an ACM Distinguished Paper Award in 2011.

Within IncQuery Labs, he serves as senior developer and architect on industrial projects, provides expert insight on Eclipse technologies, helps in running infrastructure and development operations, while also participating in open source development (EMF-IncQuery, VIATRA, Massif).


 

Zoltán Ujhelyi
Software Engineer, Eclipse Technologies Expert

Zoltán Ujhelyi has an MSc in Computer Engineering and is currently writing his PhD thesis at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. His research background focuses analysis techniques for model queries and transformations, while he is experienced at the applications of model driven development techniques.

He is a regular contributor of the EMF-IncQuery, Graphical Editing Framework projects, and co-leads the VIATRA project at the Eclipse Foundation and implemented multiple editors for different textual languages in Xtext. He is also a skilled trainer, with a special focus on Eclipse plug-in development and model-driven engineering.

Zoltán is a co-author of multiple conference and journal papers on software analysis techniques, including type checking and dynamic slicing, and received an IEEE Best Paper award in 2014.

Within IncQuery Labs, he serves as a senior developer and lecturer on modeling and Eclipse technologies, and also participates in open source development (EMF-IncQuery, VIATRA).

Balázs Grill
Software Engineer, Automotive Tool Development Expert

Balázs Grill has an MSc in Computer Engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He is a seasoned Eclipse tool developer with experience in embedded systems. His special interests include model-based development tools for automotive embedded applications using AUTOSAR standards, covering all aspects including using database back-ends to textual and graphical notations of models. He is also experienced in safety-critical automotive embedded software development, including low-level hardware drivers and AUTOSAR Basic Software modules.

Within IncQuery Labs, he actively participates in open source development (EMF-IncQuery and VIATRA), as well as research and development projects in the automotive and embedded domains.
